Recipe of The Week - Strawberry Protein Passion

OK Truth-Seekers, I've got a lot on my plate this week and it's not just food, so this'll have to be a quickie. Some of you know I've come to love protein drinks with such intensity, I practically live on them.  Have at least 2 a day when I'm weight-training and doing YRG.

Now that strawberries are in season, I'm experiencing the joys of enjoying them just-picked vs. the frozen bags I've been accustomed to.  This recipe packs nutrition and flavor, and it's also a great aid to either satisfy a craving or prevent one.  Bon Appetit!

Strawberry Protein Passion

1 scoop egg white protein powder
8-12 ounces almond or coconut milk
1 cup fresh strawberries

Place all ingredients in blender or in immersion blender cup and blend for about a minute until smooth. Try not to chug all at once...Enjoy!

  1. Yummmmmmm... Getting protein is a problem for me. I don't even like eggs, any more.

    Good idea here.

  2. Egg white protein powder...

Wondering where you get this, in bulk?

I've tried for regular Protein Powder, but some have dairy, and maybe gluten.

I can't have gluten, but I can take Lactaid, when I have a little lactose, so I could do that, if I had to.

    But I use Soy milk.

    Please and thank you!

  3. Yes, getting enough protein can be a challenge. I use the Fit 'N Healthy brand carried at Vitamin World, locations in Queensbury and Crossgates Mall in Albany. You can also order online. The Cadillac of protein powders is made by Jay Robb. He does all varieties, not just egg white. His egg white protein powder is derived from eggs that are hormone-free. Let me know how you like the stuff when you do try it. I also use coconut milk - the So Delicious brand ROCKS!

Oh, and if you're gluten-free and lactose intolerant, there are other protein powders out there made of pea protein, hemp hearts, etc.

I've tried hemp hearts, they are actually pretty good and are amazingly potent, two scoops and I'm not hungry for hours. And the nutrition is off the charts. At this point they are available via a Canadian company. I highly recommend giving them a try:
